REVIEW   Herein lies the roots of soul jazz. It was this LP and the others few around it that laid down the roots of the style. The influence of bop is still there, but now the blues, gospel and what was about to become soul music was all being pulled together into one great package by the hero of the hammond. Not only is it an essential item on the list for any interested in the genre, but it's also one of Reid Miles' finest designs for a cover of a Jimmy Smith LP.
