In 1962, Jimmy Smith and his trio (Quentin Warren on guiitar and drummer Donald Bailey) played three songs on the TV show Jazz Scene USA. First up is one of them, courtesy of YouTube. (The others they played are The Champ (which is not on YouTube yet) and Mack The Knife.) The second video is from 1965 when Jimmy and Quentin, with drummer Billy Hart, apeared on the BBC's Jazz 625 show. The progression in Jimmy's playing and sound is quite apparent.
