REVIEW
Here we can really hear the
Smith soul jazz sound coming into existence: the groove and the bounce,
the two-note repetitions and the high holds in the solos are all present,
notably on the title tune. However at the time the world was kept in the
dark, as this album wasn't released until '66, by which time Jimmy had hit
the stratosphere. In fact, of the twelve albums of material that currently
are available from this period, that being his last three years on Blue
Note, only five were released at the time.
